Big festivities for someone’s special birthday

Today, it has been pretty special because it is the beginning of the festivities for my mom’s birthday. She was born in November 17, but the principal day to celebrate her birthday is November 22. In Peru, my native country, people from country side name a baby born with the name of the saint close to that day. For that reason, my mom was named Cecilia, for whose day is celebrated on November 22nd.
One of my sisters-in-law invited us to a lunch-dinner to celebrate the eve of her birthday. She cooked a delicious meat loaf with mash potatoes from scratch and baked asparagus with bacon wrapped around it. For tomorrow, we have cake and coffee at night to make my mom blow out her candles. The day after, my sister Diana who doesn’t want to be left behind invites us to a dinner. The menu is “Patasca”, a soup which is made from white hominy and different kinds of meat. Wednesday will be a rest day, but Thursday we have another invitation from my other sister-in-law. And finally, Saturday will be the grand finale when there will be a party with Andean music that she loves like us. Also, more members of my family will come to share this special moment with us.
I give thanks to God for having my mom with us. She is the head of the family, and keeps it together. The most important of these festivities is the remembrances that will be left not only for her daughters and sons but also for her grandchildren who can learn about its roots and feels proud of that.

Busy weekend

Hi everybody, it is little late but it is a good time to start writing. Well, this weekend I was busy in my work since I needed to finish some drawings. However, I can't complaint because I am learning new programs while I am doing them.
Of course, I had some time to enjoy Halloween. First, I saw my niece and newphews put on their costumes and go by the neighborhood to ask "trick or treat" before sunset. Later, some kids knocked our door for the same motive, although we hadn't put any Halloween decor this year outside the house. Almost at 8 pm, a group of my family and I decided to go to a new scary place in Clifton. We know about it by the newspaper. It was unbelievable to see only one house had so many monster toys such as zombies, creatures, vampires and others. They were located in everywhere of the house by the roof, garden, trees, windows, parking lot, and in any available space. For that reason, there were a lot of traffic in the area caused by the big amount of visitors, even a patrolling car was cruising the area to keep the order. Most of the people arrived at there with their customes, but the most thrilling moment was the first time I heard the sound of an electrical saw. Suddenly, two guys with masks and saws appeared next to me making frightening noises. I was Ok, but I felt a little spooky. It was really a creepy night.
Now, speaking of politics, today is a big day due to the elections. Later we will know how the polls are going to determine who of the two candidates will be our new Commander in Chief. However, most important aim is that people go to vote. Good luck to everybody!
